The Curator and Creative Director shares several of her work samples here - She is also a sculptor, multimedia and installation artist - It has been her vision to create the gallery space in RINO to expose artists to a new "hybrid” gallery model that provides a means for professional artists to exhibit in a new approach to gallery representation in a commercial setting creating value for their visual practices.
To do it, she is welcoming visitors from all over the world and inviting artists to take advantage of the changing demographic of people living in and visiting RiNo. She is introducing local, regional and national artists through a less restrictive traditional gallery representation model. She created a polished high end gallery and is interested in fostering collaboration, expanding on traditional commercial gallery models.
With 40 years of experience working in the fine art business sector, she provides a rigorously curated exhibition space situated in a SoHo like area in a 1930s commercial warehouse space in RINO.
Her commitment and energy, attention to artists and craftspeople in the gallery correlates to a space she created with an experiential approach and thoughtfulness through out. The space offers dramatic high ceilings and is best suited for large scale and installation work. Laura envisions a new kind of space with a unique and varied choices for discerning clients.
Artists are provided exposure to the new urban sophisticates surrounding the gallery from NYC, LA, Chicago, San Francisco and many other art centric cites. Celebrating the changing demographics of Denver, she coaches emerging artists and works to expand artist’s practices into broader applications in commercial sectors.
Identifying the gallery as a hybrid commercial gallery - never been done in the Denver area - Laura encourages artists to apply, propose or drop in for a visit. Application preparation: Artists are requested to submit key works that illustrate their practice succinctly and prepared for a rigorous application process designed to ensure a level of professionalism and commitment to practice.
Laura's commitment to contemporary practice and multidisciplinary installation approach extend to her gallery curation process - where she crosses boundaries of traditional curation styles. She envisions her own focus on the public, private, site-specific and installation sectors to carry over to the gallery exhibitors. Committed to saving both clients and artists money through low commission structures and markups and by developing collaborative project ideas, she hopes to break the mold - so to speak - of traditional gallery representation.
